Dear EDIFICE colleague ,
We
herewith invite you, your colleagues
and your trading partners to the
upcoming 110th EDIFICE
Plenary Meeting taking place on
March 3rd-4th,
2010 in Munich, Germany
The meeting is
hosted by Microsoft. The
theme is around
"Cloud Computing impact on B2B”
“Microsoft is thrilled to be hosting
the 110th EDIFICE Plenary in Munich,
Germany and looks forward to seeing
a large membership turnout for this
event.
The past two years have been a
period of tremendous change for High
Tech and Electronics companies.
While many of the challenges they
face, such as shrinking product
lifecycles, increased digital
convergence, and complex and dynamic
supply chains remain, two recent
events have significantly changed
the landscape in which they operate:
The economic challenges presented by
the global financial crisis, and the
rapid emergence of cloud computing.
Each of these events presents
opportunities for companies in the
high tech industry.
How well does your supply chain
enable your people to profitably and
predictably meet the volatile
demands of your customers and
channels? High Tech &
Electronics supply chains reach
beyond the boundaries of a single
company’s manufacturing and supply
chain operations, spanning
organizational and geographic
boundaries. Today’s value networks
operate globally, dynamically
blending suppliers, design partners,
transportation firms, and contract
manufacturers with internal
manufacturing and supply
capabilities to meet the challenges
of shorter product lifecycles,
increased product and channel
complexity. To manage their
value networks effectively, the
leaders in High Tech must now do
more than track the progression of
raw materials and finished products
as they travel globally from
supplier to consumer. They
must also monitor, measure, and
adjust the performance of their
value network to find the right
balance of costs, service levels and
risk for their company. Few
can afford the capital cost, or ramp
up time to achieve this balance with
fully owned vertical supply chains,
but a new era of multi-enterprise
collaboration, pervasive business
intelligence, and real-time B2B
processes are required to realize
the anticipated benefits from value
networks.
This Plenary will look at the how
cloud computing will impact the
methods through which trading
partners exchange information in
today’s emerging value networks.
How does the emergence of cloud
computing change the way companies
exchange data? What solutions
are available? How might this
new paradigm affect standards?
And as high tech companies
increasingly rely on content as well
as the physical device for revenues,
how can they manage a new kind of
supply chain, the “Digital Supply
Chain”?
Microsoft is a strong believer that
collaboration, business
intelligence, and integration are
critical to enabling your people to
transform supply chains to more
demand-driven, adaptive, responsive,
and efficient value networks.
